12 Hours of Temecula Race #1

The 12 hours of Temecula, is a mountain biking endurance race series, held at Vail Lake Resort in Southern California. There are 3 races in the series, the first of which for 2012 was last Saturday, January 21st. You can compete solo, or as a team, and the teams are split into several different categories. Bear Valley Bikes was there, with team owner, Derek hermon, teaming up with rising star Connor McCutcheon to compete in the 2 person open category. The race bagan at 9am. The racers must complete an 8.3 mile lap, alternating team members for the next 12 hours. It was a cold, wet and windy day, which proceeded to become even colder after the sun went down. There were 13 teams in Derek and Connors category, and after 12 hours of racing, they finished in 1st place, one whole lap ahead of the next team! They completed 17 laps, almost the most laps overall, with only 1 team in the entire event ahead of them with 18 laps completed. The next race in the series is scheduled for June 9th 2012.
