12 Hours of Temecula Race #1

The 12 hours of Temecula, is a mountain biking endurance race series, held at Vail Lake Resort in Southern California. There are 3 races in the series, the first of which for 2012 was last Saturday, January 21st. You can compete solo, or as a team, and the teams are split into several different categories. Bear Valley Bikes was there, with team owner, Derek hermon, teaming up with rising star Connor McCutcheon to compete in the 2 person open category. The race bagan at 9am. The racers must complete an 8.3 mile lap, alternating team members for the next 12 hours. It was a cold, wet and windy day, which proceeded to become even colder after the sun went down. There were 13 teams in Derek and Connors category, and after 12 hours of racing, they finished in 1st place, one whole lap ahead of the next team! They completed 17 laps, almost the most laps overall, with only 1 team in the entire event ahead of them with 18 laps completed. The next race in the series is scheduled for June 9th 2012. Southridge Winter Series 2012 Race #1

Today was the first race of our 2012 season! Three of our riders came out to compete in the Southridge Winter Series in Fontana, CA. Team owner, Derek Hermon, who won his category last season, maintained his title with a first Place Finish. Reggie Lamson raced in Cat 1 and placed 5th and Trey Jarno moved up to Cat 2 and claimed a spot on the podium in 3rd place! Well done to the three of them for making it to the first race of the year, we are looking forward to seeing more of our racers out there at the next race of the series on January 21st. Team Jordan’s Quest for the 7th Summit

We are proud to support Jordan Romero, Paul Romero and ‘Super K’ Karen Lundgren in their goal this month to climb Mt. Vinson Massif in Antarctica. Jordan is 15 years old and is local to Big Bear. He began his quest in 2006 to climb to the highest points on each continent, also known as ‘The 7 Summits’. Last year he succeeded in conquering the highest of them all, Mt. Everest, and now the Team is in Antarctica, on the verge of finishing their challenge.
